In a highly critical evaluation, the military oversight panel stated that the nation is "far from" where it needs to be to effectively secure itself and its allies, particularly during a time when military risks to Europe are "substantial".

The investigation determined that Britain is not fulfilling its Nato obligations and slipping "far short" of its asserted prominent status.
